Marathi Day
Languages spoken in India belong to several language families. India has 122 major languages and 1599 other languages. Two contact languages have played an important role in the history of India: Persian and English. English continues to be an important language in India. It is used in higher education and in some areas of the Indian government. Hindi, the most commonly spoken language in India today, serves as the lingua franca across much of North and Central India. Hindi is our National language. Marathi is the third most spoken and understood language in the country with a significant amount of speakers in South-Western regions.
In our School we celebrated 3 basic & spoken language of Maharashtra – English, Hindi & Marathi. Marathi day was celebrated in the month of July, English day in the month of August & Hindi day in the month of September. Majority of the students participated in the competitions like essay writing, handwriting, poetry, skit, dance, song, conversations & debate.
